Choquequirao a magic Inca city located to the South of the city of Cusco, among the river Apurímac and the mountainous chain of Vilcabamba, where the snowy of Salkantay stands out with a height of 6 271 m.s.n.m. (20575 ft.). It is an exciting walk that combines the different heights of the high lands of Peru with variety of   flora and fauna. The range that this tour offers us  is the one of seeing some species that are in such extinction it is the case of the condor , the puma and the bear of glasses. This area served as refuge and natural strength for the sixteenth movement of Inca resistance of the XVI century, for that area  is conserved in the oral tradition the existence of “El Dorado”, the lost city of the incas , today even hidden for the archaeology.

The complex of Choquequirao is composed of nine sectors in which stand out the political/religious center, the system with water fountains and channels with aqueducts and the group of doorways.

From an air view or a certain distance, it is easy to distinguish the typical Inca terraces that form the biggest constructions of Choquequirao. One temple, some administrative buildings and rooms for the administrators and main advisors that were situated around the main square.

Day 1.- Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca

We pick up it from the hotel to 6:00 o’clock a.m. to begin the trip until the town of Cachora going by the towns of Izcuchaca until arriving to the Archaeological Complex of Tarawasi, we continue our trip until the bridge Cunyac, we will go by the district of Curawasi and Saywite for finally to arrive to Cachora (10:00 a.m.). There we prepare the load animals and the muleteers and we begin our walk with a soft slope until arriving to the step of Capuliyoc (2800 m.s.n.m) where we will eat lunch after two hours of walk, he/she stops then to go toward the town of Chiquisca (1930 m.s.n.m.) During this itinerary we will have the opportunity to observe you magnify views, beautiful landscapes, warm climate, glacial of the mountain range Vilcabamba and the impressive abyss of Apurímac, in this place will have our first camp.


Day 2.- Chiquisca – Choquequirao

After the breakfast at 5:00 o’clock a.m. approximately, we continue with our walk toward the beach Rosalinas (1550 m.s.n.m), and to go up the very early slope, the itinerary but difficult, with address to Santa Rosa (2100 m.s.n.m) in approached 3 hours, it stops then to ascend until gone up softer Maranpata (2850 m.s.n.m), wher we eill have our lunch, in this place we will appreciate all the one on the way to the first day and the existent vegetation in this place, we will also observe orchids and violets, if the luck accompanies us we will be able to appreciate fauna like Deer, Bear Anthill and diversity of birds and insects, then we will travel a tract with address to Choquequirao where we will have our camp at a hour of the Archaeological Complex.


Day 3.- Choquequirao – Chiquisca

In the morning after breakfast we will visit the archaeological group of Choquequirao, where we will have our tour, after our spectacular tour we will return to have lunch in Santa Rosa town and Chiquisca campsite.


Day 4.- Chiquisca – Cachora – Cusco

After a good breakfast at our camp in Chiquisca at 06:00 am, we started our return by the same route to Cachora, is a rise of about two hours to reach the viewpoint of Capuliyoc, then be in two hours more in the Cachora town, arriving at approximately 12:00 pm for lunch, on the way will appreciate enough exotic flora and fauna, see spectacular mountains, the impressive canyon of the Apurimac, considered like the most spectacular in South America, in the afternoon after the lunch we continue our return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 pm, concluding our service with the transfer to your hotel.
